Pitt-Bradford Women's Soccer Falls to Capital University in Opening Weekend Finale

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team finished its opening weekend trip to Ohio with a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Capital University on Sunday afternoon.

"I believe we actually played much better today than we did against Wittenberg on Friday," said Pitt-Bradford head women's soccer coach, Mike Idland. "We strung together a few really nice sequences against a fantastic Capital team. It's important to test ourselves against that type of competition from time to time in order to keep our program moving forward."

The Crusaders held a commanding 25-6 advantage in shots, but Panthers' keeper, Sarah Dailey, gathered 12 saves, holding the relentless Capital offense to just three goals. All three of the Crusaders' goals came off of headers.

"Sarah Dailey was on a different level again today," Idland said. "She was named a team captain after the game, which is an honor she certainly deserves, following an incredible weekend in goal for us."

Grace Dadzaa, Maggie Boehler, Kaitlyn Williams and Abby Celesky each had one shot on goal for Pitt-Bradford in the loss.

"I'm proud of our team's effort over the long weekend," Idland said. "I am confident our hard work will start showing up in the form of wins as the season moves on."

The Panthers return to Bradford for their home opener Wednesday afternoon at 4 against Juniata at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
