Three Panthers Named to All-AMCC Wrestling Teams

Bradford, Pa. -- The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its All-Conference honorees for wrestling on Wednesday, and three student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team were recognized.

After their performances at this month's AMCC Wrestling Championships, DJ Slovick, Colton Gietler and Gavin Thompson were all named 2nd Team All-AMCC Performers for their weight classes at the championship event.

DJ Slovick is a sophomore, making his second appearance as an All-Conference honoree at 165 pounds. Last year Slovick won his weight class and made 1st team.  This season he posted a 26-12 record, leading the Panthers in wins. He also recorded 12 victories by pin, 7 by major decision, and 3 by technical fall, which all led the team.

Senior Colton Gietler makes the All-Conference team in his last collegiate season. Gietler was 21-8 this season, which was the best winning percentage on the team. He registered 10 wins by fall, 3 by major decision, and 3 by tech fall.

Finally,  freshman Gavin Thompson made the 2nd team after a strong debut season for Pitt-Bradford. Thompson was 20-9 this season with 11 wins by pinfall and 4 by major decision.

The Panthers are guaranteed one final competition, as they will all compete at the NCAA Regional Qualifying meet on March 1st and 2nd. Should they advance at that meet, the NCAA National Championships will be held two weeks later.
