Panthers Drop Two at Kings College Tri

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team lost two matches at their final competition for the fall semester. Competing in the Kings College Tri-match, the Panthers lost a tight match to Penn College 20-24, before falling to the hosts 4-38 in the nightcap.

The Panthers began their day against Penn College. The Panthers fell behind early, and were unable to make up the deficit, as the Wildcats held on for a 20-24 win. Raymond Worsen picked up the first win for the Panthers at 149, winning by a 13-12 decision. D.J. Slovick and Nathan Powley each won by decision as well. Slovick wrestled at 174 and won his match 8-4. Powley competed at 197 and won 9-6. The Panthers finished strong as Cameron Carter-Green put in a dominating performance at 285. He won 16-1 for a technical fall victory. Colton Gietler also picked up a win by forfeit at 184.

In their second match of the day, the Panthers did not fare as well, losing to the hosts, Kings College 38-4. Carter-Green was the only Panther able to win a bout in the match, winning with a 13-5 major decision.

The Panthers fall to 2-7 in dual matches this season. They will have time to rest over the holidays before returning to action in the New Year. The Panthers will host the first-ever AMCC Quad Meet on Saturday, January 7th. The event will consist of simultaneous matches with two mats operating at the same time. The action is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. as the Panthers will host Alfred State, Hiram, and Penn State-Behrend in a round-robin format.
