Panthers Pick Up 1st Win of the Season over Penn State-Behrend

Erie, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team picked up its first victory of the season as they defeated Penn State-Behrend 33-15 in Erie on Wednesday night.

The Panthers got off to an early head start as Jestin Porubn and Farhid Negahban each received wins by forfeit at 133 and 141. 

After the Lions closed the gap to 12-9 with a win by decision at 149 and a forfeit at 157, Tyler Newtown got the Panthers back on track with a victory by pin in 58 seconds at the 165 lb weight class.

The Panthers clinched the victory with two more forfeit wins at 174 and 184 for Victor Elias and Nate Powley. 

Wrestling at 197, Chase Proudfit wrapped up the Panther scoring with a win-by-decision. He defeated his opponent 8-2.

The team victory marks the first career win for Head Coach Blake Heim.

The Panthers will be back in action over the weekend when they travel to Williamsport for a tri-match with Penn College and Centenary. The action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
