Panthers Return to Action at RIT Invitational

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team returned to action after the Thanksgiving break, competing in the RIT Invitational. The Panthers finished the event in 16th place.

"We didn't have the most wins today, but this was probably the best we have wrestled this year," said head coach Blake Heim. " We faced some really tough competition and will only improve because of it."

Victor Elias picked up two wins for the Panthers. He started his day with a tough 6-4 win, picking up the final two points in extra time to earn a sudden victory. After falling by pin in the second championship round, Elias won his second match of the data in the consolation bracket. He was able to pick up an 11-1 major victory, before falling in the next round.

Nathan Powley was the only other Panther to earn points on the day. He was knocked out of the championship bracket in a tight 6-5 loss by decision but came back to pick up a win in the consolation bracket. He pinned his opponent in 6:39. Powley finished his day with another close loss, falling by a 3-2 decision.

The Panthers will wrap up the fall portion of their season next weekend when they head to Kings College for a quad match with the hosts, Alvernia and Muhlenberg. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
