Ithaca, N.Y. -- Junior Wrestler Mitch Dowd of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team took 8th place over the weekend at the NCAA Mideast Regional held in Ithaca, N.Y.

After securing a spot on the podium by wrestling to a 2-1 on the first day of competition, Dowd was unable to improve his position on Day 2. He lost a tough match against Scott Schafer of Muhlenberg. Dowd lost his match by a 3-2 decision. He fell behind after being taken down 2:14 into the match. He quickly gained an escape point to halve the deficit. Schaeffer reinstated his 2 point lead by escaping in the second period. Dowd was also able to gain an escape point in the third period, but was unable to even the score in the final minutes of action.

Dowd finished 8th overall in the heavyweight class. He earned 4.5 team points for the Panthers.

Overall the Panthers finished in a tie for 16th place wit Alfred State. With the end of the regional, the Panthers second season comes to an end. Dowd picked up the most wins on the team, as he finished the season with a 32-11. Record. Eli Hernandez finished the season with 20 wins and Nate Powley had 17. Senior Derek Ridgeway finished his campaign with a 12-11 record.
