Rochester, N.Y. -- Mitch Dowd took 2nd in the 285 weight class at the RIT Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers scored 28.5 points and finished in 13th.

Dowd had a tough match to start the day, as he picked up his first win on a 4-3 decision. He was then able to pin his next three opponents to earn a spot in the finals. He pinned his second round opponent in 4:49, his quarterfinal opponent in 8:30 and his semifinal opponent in 4:25. In the final, he went the distance, losing a 7-2 decision.

Nate Powley picked up two victories at 165, before falling in the quarterfinals. His first two victories were via pin. The first came in 2:12, while the second was in only 1:24. 

Derek Ridgeway also picked up a victory by 4-2 decision at 184.

The Panthers will finish their Fall Semester schedule on Monday December, 16th. They will travel to Williamsport Pa. to participate in the Lycoming Duals beginning at 12:00 p.m.
