Panthers Fall to Saints

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team lost their match with Mercyhurst North East on Thursday night. The final score was 31-18.

The Panthers were able to pick up more points than the Saints in matches, however they lost 3 matches via no contest, giving their opponents 18 points. They were able to win four matches in the meet. Wrestling at 133, Eli Hernandez picked up his 7th victory of the season with a pin at 6:04. Daniel Shields picked up the next Panther victory at 174. He won his match by decision with a score of 9-6. Derek Ridgeway pinned his opponent at 184 in a time of 5:28. Mitch Dowd closed the match with his team leading 9th victory with a 3-0 decision in the heavyweight class. 

When asked about his team's performance head coach Colin Johnston said, " I think the guys wrestled hard. We are a young team and there are still some little things that we need to work on as a team."

The Panthers will have over a week to recover physically and improve before their next match. They will return to action on Sunday, November 24th when they will participate in the JCU Duals, hosted by John Carroll University. The meet will begin at 10:00 AM.
