Pitt-Bradford Wrestling To Host Penn State-Behrend For Dual Meet Wednesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team will end its inaugural regular season competing against the same opponent with which it began -- except this time, in Pitt-Bradford's gym.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Pitt-Bradford will host Penn State-Behrend at the KOA Arena for the first home dual meet in program history at 7 p.m.

Pitt-Bradford is looking to avenge a narrow 28-17 defeat on Nov. 2 at Penn State-Behrend in its first NCAA Division III action in history.

Elijah Hernandez (133 lb.) picked up the first win in school history while Mitch Dowd (197 lb.) and Sam Colebert (285 lb.) sent the Panthers off on a high note in their opening dual with victories in the final two bouts of the evening.

Since then, Hernandez has amassed five total victories while Dowd and Colebert are among the team leaders with 11 and 14 wins, respectively.

Another key contributor in the Panther line up is Neiko Kuntz (141 lbs.) who is tied with Colebert with 14 victories this season.

At 184 lbs., Quentin Ellis has earned nine victories this season while Daniel Sibel is coming off an eighth-place finish in the tough Messiah Open Saturday.

Though it's the first home dual meet, Wednesday evening will not be the first home action in history as Pitt-Bradford hosted Brockport and Thiel for a tri-meet on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Victor Elias (157 lbs.) earned the first home victory in history, coming against Brockport.

Since the season-opening home victory against Pitt-Bradford, Penn State-Behrend has found wins against Alfred State (Jan. 12) and Keystone (Jan. 27).

The second-year program gets most of its production out of Jake Paulson (184 lbs.) who leads the team with a 19-2 record and Levko Higgins (174 lbs.) who isn't far behind at 16-4.

Action at the KOA Arena Wednesday is set for 7 p.m.
