Panthers Wrestling To Compete In RIT Invitational Saturday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team will compete in the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Invitational Saturday.

Pitt-Bradford will be one of 16 teams competing in the 53rd annual RIT Invitational. 

Joining the host RIT and Pitt-Bradford will be Case Western Reserve, John Carroll, Keystone College, New England College, Norwich, Oneonta State University, Oswego State University, Scranton, Thiel, Trinity, SUNY Ulster, Wesleyan University, Williams and WPI.

Pitt-Bradford most recently competed in the John Carroll Duals on Nov. 18.

Mitch Dowd was the top performer for in his weight class for the entire event, the only wrestler competing in the 197 class to go 4-0 on the day.

Round one against Lourdes, Neiko Kuntz (141) earned a 12-9 win, while Victor Elias (157) picked up a win in 3:48.

Sam Colebert (285) won on a 13-8 decision.

In round two against Waynesburg, Elijah Hernandez (125) won on a 6-0 decision. Derek Ridgeway (165) grabbed his first win on the day, 5-4.

Against Urbana in round three, Hernandez (125) took a win by forfeit, while Ridgeway (165) won 8-3 and Nick DiStefano (174) grabbed an 8-6 decision.

Action Saturday at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center will begin at 9 a.m.
