Panther Bowling Ends Season at AMCC Championships

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The 6th-seeded University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team brought their season to an end at the AMCC the Championship Tournament on Friday, falling to #3 Alvernia 2-0.

The AMCC Championship Tournament consists of best of 3 game megamatches. The first two games are decided by total pinfall, with the 1st match in the traditional style, and the 2nd in Baker. If a tiebreaker is required, the match is decided by a best-of-seven Baker match.

The Panthers took on the Alvernia Golden Wolves and fell in each of the first two matches.

In traditional bowling, the Panthers fell 870-783. Brookelyn Garvey led the Panthers with a score of 186. Alexis Whitfield had the Panthers 2nd best score at 159, while Erin Wales was just behind her at 158. Sarah Newland posted a score of 147, while Olivia Shultz wrapped up the scoring at 135.

In the Baker match, the Panthers could not keep up with the Golden Wolves, losing 845-793. Newland had the best pin-per-frame average for Pitt-Bradford at 19.2. Wales followed at 16.8 pins per frame in the leadoff spot, while the anchor bowler, Garvey, averaged 15.9. Shultz had an average of 15.2 per frame, while Whitfield was at 12.2.

The Panthers finish their season with a 29-29 record. They finished the AMCC season 9-11, tied for 6th.
