Panthers Tack on 3 More Wins on Day 2 at AMCC Round Robin

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowling team picked up three more victories on the second day of action at the AMCC Round Robin on Saturday, bringing their record to 4-1 for the event.

The Panthers started their day by breezing to a 760-656 win over Mount Aloysius. The Panthers were able to win all five of the games within the match. They started off with a 161-123 victory and then added to their advantage by winning game two 165-147. The Panthers' scores dropped off in the next two games, but they were still able to outscore the Mounties, winning game three 145-116 and game four 123-106. Despite holding a near 100-pin lead heading into the final game, the Panthers were able to post their highest score of the match in game five, edging the Mounties 166-164 to close the match.

The Panthers kept rolling in their second match of the day, posting their highest pinfall total of the event in a 918-634 win over Penn State-Altoona. After winning game one 128-109, the Panthers jumped out to a commanding lead, posting a high score of their own while also taking advantage of a low Lion output in game two. The Panthers rolled a 193, while their opponents finished at 89. The Panthers faltered slightly in the third game of the match, falling 154-158 in game three, but were able to recapture momentum in the fourth with a 187-168 win. The Panthers closed in impressive fashion, winning game 5 with their best baker game of the year, bowling a 256, while their opponents finished with 110.

The Panthers were able to move to 4-0 in the event after their next match, defeating Hilbert 772-716. Pitt-Bradford took an early lead as they won game one 170-150 and game two 160-106, but saw the Hawks creep closer in the next two, falling 126-141 and 136-166. They were able to turn things around in the fifth game of the match, winning 180-153 to secure victory.

To close the day, the Panthers took on Saint Vincent and were unable to maintain their momentum, losing 708-867. They started off well as they were trailing the Bearcats by just two pins after two games. They lost game one 165-167 and drew game two 156-156. The Panthers ran out of steam following the draw, dropping the last three matches by scores of 122-183, 117-195, and 148-166 to close the match.

The Panthers finish day two 4-1 in the round robin and 10-5 overall in AMCC play. They will wrap up the round-robin on Sunday with 5 final matches, which will determine their place in the AMCC Championship Tournament. The action is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
