Panthers Off to Slow Start at Medaille Invitational

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowling team was back in action on Saturday, as they traveled to Buffalo to bowl in the Medaille Invitational. The Panthers got off to a rough start on day one, as they lost all five of their traditional matches.

The Day started with a tough 686-931 loss to Walsh. Ekaterina Wilson led the Panthers with a 170, while Sarah Newland was just behind her at 169.

The Panthers improved in their second match of the day, as they posted a team score of 727, but lost to Daemen, who scored 809. Newland took the lead in this match, rolling a 191.

Match three saw the Panthers take on the hosts, Medaille, falling 724-863 to the Mavericks. Brookelyn Garvey responded to a slow start in the first two matches of the day by leading the team with a score of 185. 

The Panthers bowled their best match of the day in game 4, posting a score of 757, but ultimately fell to Chestnut Hill, who rolled a 907. Garvey led the team once again with a 187, while Newland was just behind her at 182. 

Pitt-Bradford closed day two with a 728-960 loss to Roberts Wesleyan. Garvey bowled her best game of the day, posting a 211 to close the day.

After one day of competition, the Panthers are in 9th place by total pinfall with a score of 3,622. Sarah Newland has the highest average for the Panthers for the event with a score of 170.20. She is in 24th Place. Brookelyn Garvey is just behind her in 26th place with an average of 164.20.

Ekaterina Wilson is in 30th with an average score of 146.80, and Oliva Schultz is in 34th at 130.20. Alexis Whitfield wraps up the Panther scoring in 39th place at 113.00 pins per game.

The Panthers will look to get into the win column and move up the leaderboard on day two of the event tomorrow. The action begins at 10:00 a.m.
