Panthers Wrap Up Daemen Fall Classic

Lancaster, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowling team finished its season-opening trip to the Daemen Fall Classic on Sunday, going 1-4 in five Baker matches.

The Panthers started the day with three straight losses. They opened with a 669-783 loss to Medaille and then fell to the hosts, Daemen, 772-936. In their third match, they battled Medaille early but were unable to match the Mavericks, falling 730-838.

The Panthers picked up their only victory of the day in match four. They defeated Hilbert 720-667. They built an early lead, outscoring the Hawks 450-330 through three games, which provided enough of a cushion for the Panthers to fall in the last two games but still win the match.

They closed the event with a rematch against Hilbert. They struggled early in their final match of the day and were trailing the Hawks by 35 points heading into the last game. Pitt-Bradford was able to come away with a 181-169 win in the 5th game, but fell short of erasing the deficit, losing the match 733-756.

The Panthers went 2-8 on the weekend. They will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Buffalo to bowl in the Medaille invitational.
