Bowlers Split Day 2, Earn Spot in AMCC Championships

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Bowling team won two of its four matches on Day 2 of the 2nd AMCC Round Robin, securing a spot in the AMCC Championship tournament.

The Panthers started their day in the same fashion as they did on Day 1, beginning competition with a victory. They defeated New Jersey City College 763-743. Jordyn Graham posted the high score for the Panthers, rolling a 179. Jenna Lofaro and Ekaterina Wilson each bowled a 157 in the opening game.

In the second match of the day, The Panthers totaled a respectable 760, but saw their opponents, Saint Vincent finish with 883. Juliet Pinkney had the high game in the loss with a 177.

Pitt-Bradford responded to the loss with a victory over Penn State-Altoona in the 8th match of the event. They outscored the Lions 732-669 in the game. Lofaro and Chasity Kocher each bowled 154 games, while Pinkney finished just behind with a 148.

In the final match of the day, the Panthers fell to Mount Aloysius 753-843. Abbie Buerkle stepped in and bowled a team-high 176. Pinkney added a 164 and Mercedes Fox bowled a 153 in her only action of the day.

The Panthers finished the round-robin with a 4-5 record. Jordyn Graham was the Panthers best bowler in the event, averaging 157.13 pins per game all of the Panthers statistics for the weekend are below.

The Panthers' strong performance in the second round-robin earned them a spot in the AMCC Tournament. After finishing the 1st round-robin in 8th place at 2-7, the Panthers moved into a tie for 6th with LaRoche at 6-12. The Panthers own a 1448 to 1390 head to head pinfall advantage over the RedHawks, securing the 6th and final spot in the Tournament. The AMCC Championships will begin on Friday, March 20th at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, Pa. The 6th seeded Panthers will take on #3 Mount Aloysius in the first round at 10:00 a.m.
