Panthers Finish in 8th Place at First AMCC Round-Robin

Erie, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowling team took 8th place at the first AMCC Round Robin weekend of the season. They went 2-7 throughout the two-day tournament. The Panthers took on each of the 10 teams in the conference in a 5-game total pinfall baker scoring match. 

The Panthers went 1-4 on the opening day of competition They lost matches to Medaille, LaRoche, D'Youville and Mount Aloysius but were able to come up with a win against Penn State-Altoona. In their lone victory of the day, the Panthers won the opening game 116-113 but fell behind the Lions after a 167-112 loss. They battled back and won the following three games with scores of 137-113, 165-111 and 104-90 to seal the victory. Their high match of the day was in the loss to Medaille in which they rolled a 766.

Day two saw Pitt-Bradford bowl their final 4 games of the round-robin, winning 1 and losing 3. The Panthers lost their first 3 matches of the day, falling to Penn State-Behrend, Saint Vincent and Hilbert, but were able to eke out a win in their last match of the day against New Jersey City. In their victory, the Panthers built a 73 in lead over the first three games of the match. That early performance helped them to withstand a late comeback over the final two games to win the match 692-653.

The Panthers will have the next week off, before they host Penn State-Behrend for a dual match on Monday, February 10th. The match will take place at Byllye Lanes in Bradford, and begin at 6:00 p.m.
