Bowling Team Improves Scores, Falls to Medaille

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh bowling team hosted defending champions Medaille on Wednesday night for their first home of the season. The Panthers recorded some of their highest scores of the season but fell in both formats to the Mavericks.

The day started with a 5 bowler traditional match. Bowling 5 freshmen, the Panthers collected a season-high in total pinfall for the match. They rolled a 766, which is 58 more pins than their previous high. The final score was 876-766 in favor of the Mavericks. Juliet Pinkney recorded the highest score for Pitt-Bradford, posting a 171. Jordyn Graham finished just behind Pinkney with a 167. Additionally, Emily Snyder rolled a 148, Chasity Kocher finished with a 147 and Ekaterina Wilson posted a 133.

The teams also competed in a Baker style match. The match contained 5 games with the winner decided by total pinfall over the 5 games. Pitt-Bradford started off strong but seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the match. The Panthers recorded a 154 in the first game and increased their total with a 172 in the second game. Over the final three games, Pitt-Bradford's total continually decreased, posting a 139 in game 3, a 128 in game 4 and a 114 in game 5. They lost the match with a final score of 999-707.

The Panthers will have a short turnaround before their next competition. This Saturday they will travel to Erie to bowl in the first AMCC Round Robin event of the season.
