Bowling Returns to Action with 1-2 Weekend at La Roche

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team returned to action on Sunday after having a 7-week layoff for winter break. They traveled to Pittsburgh where they compiled a 1-2 record in three matches against La Roche University.

To start the day, the Panthers fell to the Redhawks in the traditional format 665-702. Ekaterina Wilson was the high scoring bowler for Pitt-Bradford, rolling a 173 in the match. Jordyn Graham was the second-highest scorer, finishing with a 145.

The teams also bowled in two Baker matches, which they split. In the first game, the Panthers were able to squeak by with a 670-666 victory. Wilson, Emily Snyder, Abbie Buerkle, Chasity Kocher, and Jordyn Graham comprised the match-winning team. They took the first game of the match 139, and then dominated game two, winning 136-97. This victory gave the Panthers enough of a lead to outlast the Redhawks winning the final three games without erasing the lead.

The Panthers posted a higher score in the second match, but their opponents did the same, resulting in a 707-756 loss. Kocher, Juliet Pinkney, Jenna Lofaro, Wilson, and Graham comprised the team in the final match. The Panthers lost the first 4 games of the match, despite posting their highest score of the day in the 4th game, a 164. Despite trailing, they were able to win the final game of the day, but their overall deficit proved to be too large to overcome.

The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, January 18th, when they host Penn State-Altoona in a dual match beginning at 1:00 p.m. The match will take place at Byllye Lanes in Bradford.
