Bowling Finishes in Second at Penn State Altoona Quad Match

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team finished in second place out of four teams at the Penn State Altoona Quad Match on Sunday. The event featured the Panthers playing one match against Saint Vincent, LaRoche and the hosts, Penn State Altoona. All games were bowlend in Baker format.

In the round robin portion of the event, Pitt-Bradford went 1-2. In the opening match, the Panthers fell to the hosts 691-663. They followed that up with a 898-647 loss to Saint Vincent, but were able to pick up a victory over LaRoche in the final match with a score of 708-679. The Panthers finished the round robin in a three way tie with Penn State Altoona and LaRoche at 1-2. Due to recording a higher total pinfall over the three matches, the Panthers advanced to the championship match against Saint Vincent, who went 3-0.

The championship match was a best of 7 Baker match, in which the first team to four points would secure the event championship. The Bearcats got off to a strong start, winning the first two games 167-146 and 214-126. The Panthers were able to take the third game, winning 157-127, but lost the next two to close competition. The fourth game ended 200-154 in favor of Saint Vincent and the final game ended 158-130.

The event brings the Fall Semester portion of the Panthers' schedule to a close. They will return to action after the holiday break when they host Penn State Altoona in a dual match on January 18, 2020.
