Women's Bowling Begins Season at Grapevine Invitational

Erie, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team kicked off their season by participating in the inaugural Grapevine Classic, hosted by Penn State Behrend. The Panthers participated in 10 team matches, winning 1 and losing 9.

The first day of the event was bowled in the traditional scoring style. In this style, each teammate bowls a full 10-frame game and their scores are totaled to reach a team score. Pitt-Bradford fell 890-610 to Walsh, 775-702 to Daemen, 721-628 to Ursuline, 809-733 to D'Youville and 709-583 to Penn State Behrend. Freshman Juliet Pinkney led the Panthers in traditional scoring average, posting a 142.33 over three matches. Her classmates Chasity Kocher and Jordyn Graham bowled in all five traditional matches in their collegiate debuts, averaging a 136 and 134.2 respectively.

The second day of the competition used the Baker scoring format. In Baker Bowling, each teammate bowls 2 frames, taking turns throughout the ten frames for 5 games. The Panthers came away with a 1-4 record in this format on Sunday. They fell in their first four matches of the day but were able to come away with a win in their final match. They were able to win the match against D'youville by a score of 693-657. They fell 742-722 to Villa Maria, 798-695 to Penn State Behrend, 900-707 to Roberts Wesleyan and 769-655 to Walsh.

The Panthers will have a 3-week layoff until their next competition. Their next event is the Medaille Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, November, 2nd, in Buffalo, NY.
