Panthers Complete Weekend Sweep With Win At Penn State-Altoona Sunday

ALTOONA, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team capped a busy but successful weekend with a road victory at Penn State-Altoona Sunday.

The Panthers claimed wins in both traditional matches, 784-659 and 755-741. They then won baker best-of-seven format, 4-1.

The victory caps a 2-0 weekend for the Panthers, who traveled to Penn State-Behrend and came away with a 3-1 win Saturday.

"The girls stuck with it today and did well," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "I'm proud of Trisha. She bowled phenomenal, averaging 196.5 for the day during traditional and 16.7 pins per frame during baker. Kelsey did very well despite not getting the pin reaction that she should have gotten. She was the most consistent with spares today. She averaged 178 for traditional and led us for baker average with 16.9 pins per frame for the day. Jenna bowled the best she has this season so far. She averaged 148, it's not where she should be, but it's an improvement and that's what matters.

"As a team, we still need to work on spares. We only averaged 149.8 for baker and if we want any chance to make it to the championship in March, we need to increase that averaged significantly."

Trisha McElroy led the team with a 196.5 average in the two traditional matches, and Kelsey Hammons was close behind at 178.

Jenna Lofaro averaged 148 pins and Bryce Holm posted a 137.5 average. Jessica Hamel averaged 109.5 pins per game.

In baker, the team got strong performances from Hammons (16.9), McElroy (16.7) and Holm (16.7).

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will host Medaille for its first home match of the season Tuesday at Byllye Lanes.
