ALTOONA, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team wrapped up action in the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis with a pair of wins Sunday.

 

"I'm very proud of the ladies today," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "They showed up to bowl and represented our program well this morning. Haley averaged 20.34 pins per frame this morning and helped the team with marks. She only had four opens this morning out of 34 frames and two of those were spilts. Bryce and Kelsey bowled well this evening and averaged a 15.96 and 15.92 pins per frame. Megan and Jenna were right behind them with a 13 and 12.96 pins frame. Abbey, even though she struggled this morning, she remained positive and helped pick up her teammates when they struggled. Today the girls came together as a team and bowled their best when they needed to. Also, the pins were in our favor and fell when we needed them to, unlike the last two days."

 

Pitt-Bradford earned a win against New Jersey City, four games to two with a 921-891 total pinfall advantage, to advance to the next round.

 

The Panthers then won their second and final match of the day against Saint Vincent, four games to two with a 943-850 total pinfall advantage, to secure 15th place out of 18 spots for the event.

 

For the tournament, Haley Ward was ranked 28th on the individual performers list with 889 total pins over the three days for a 177.80 average.

 

Kelsey Hammons was close behind as the 30th ranked performer with 863 total pins and an average of 172.60. Hammons' high of 211 in game two was the best of any Panther during the three-day event.

 

Up next, the Panthers will play their second and final AMCC Round Robin next Saturday and Sunday hosted at Thiel.
