Panthers Complete Medaille Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team completed the second day of the two-day Medaille Invitational Saturday, finishing fifth out of six teams.

"The conditions were tough once again as the day went on," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "The girls kept with it and kept pushing on, despite bad breaks."

The Panthers finished the tournament going 2-8 in its 10 matches, earning a 1-4 mark on both Saturday and Sunday.

Both Panther wins in the two-day event came over Hilbert, with Sunday's win coming via a 994-955 score in total pin fall.

Pitt-Bradford's victory came in come-from-behind fashion, as Hilbert took the first two games before the Panthers won game three. Hilbert then took game four and was one win away from victory but the Panthers took games five, six and seven to come away with the victory.

Brianna Saylor and Kelsey Hammons led the way for the Panthers. Saylor posted the top pins per frame average on the team with 16.68.

As a team, Pitt-Bradford averaged 148.83 pins in today's best of seven baker matches, and posted a 149.46 in total.

Saylor once again led the Panthers with a 16.85 baker average, while Hammons was nearly as good at 16.8

Haley Ward posted the third-best average at 15.88 pins.

Up next, the Panthers will travel to Saint Vincent on Thursday.
