Pitt-Bradford Wraps Up Day One At Medaille Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team wrapped up action in the first day of the two-day Medaille Invitational Saturday.

"I'm proud of the girls for sticking with it today and improving as the day went on," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "We started out great, but as the lanes changed, we struggled to adjust and had many opens. Our two captains, Abbey Kalin and Haley Ward, kept the team positive and lifted the team up throughout the day."

The Panthers finished the day 1-3 with 3,755 total pins in fifth place out of six teams. Medaille holds first place at 5-0 and 4,379 total pins.

Pitt-Bradford earned its first win of the tournament in the fourth set against Hilbert, needing a strong baker game in the fifth and coming through for the victory.

Brianna Saylor anchored the team with a 17.02 pins per frame average, and Kelsey Hammons was close behind at 16.91.

Haley Ward was third with a 15.46 pins per frame average.

Tomorrow's format will be a five-game round robin, baker best-of-seven to determine the tournament champion. Action will begin at 8 a.m.
