Panthers Open 2018-17 Season Hosting Medaille

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team began its 2017-18 season Thursday against the reigning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion Medaille at Byllye Lanes.

"I'm really proud of the girls," Head Coach Sarah Foley said. "All the girls did well and really impressed me with their consistency for the two games. We need to work on baker, though, as we had many opportunities to win a game and let it slip through our fingers."

The Panthers showed up tonight for the team games, losing the first by just 16 pins.

Haley Ward led the Panthers with a score of 196 while Brianna Saylor was second at 181.

Pitt-Bradford stuck with it and improved their team total by nine pins, beating Medaille by 54 to take the second game.

Kelsey Hammons led the way for the Panthers in the second game with a score of 191 and Jenna Lofaro was next at 178.

The two teams then went to baker scoring to determine who would win the dual meet, tied 1-1 after team match play.

However, Medaille took all four of the seven possible games for the win.

Hammons stepped up for the Panthers in baker and averaged 18.63 pins per frame to lead the team.

Saylor was second on the team with a baker average of 15.43.

Up next, the Panthers will compete in the Medaille Tournament on Nov. 4 and 5.
