Panthers Take Road Test At D'Youville Monday

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team held off D'Youville and came out on top 68-63 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road test Monday.

"We played as a team today," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "I was proud of our effort in today's win. Although it came down to the wire, we held our poise and played with discipline down the stretch."

With the win, Pitt-Bradford maintains its fourth-place spot in the AMCC standings with a conference mark of 7-6 while D'Youville falls to 5-8 in conference play.

Latifah Cain earned her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Her rebounding total matches her career high.

Shaelyn Snipes led the team in scoring for the fourth time this season with 16 points. Shirleah Ragin chipped in 13 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.

Pitt-Bradford collected 11 steals and forced 21 D'Youville turnovers led by four steals from Jennifer Isenberg.

The Panthers dominated the glass, out-rebounding D'Youville 54-45.

Both teams put forth a level first quarter, with the Spartans narrowly outscoring the Panthers 18-16.

The Panther defense held D'Youville to 25 percent (4-16) shooting in the second quarter to take a 32-27 lead into the half.

D'Youville came out strong in the third quarter and shot 61.5 percent while making a three-pointer to send the game tied 47-47 into the fourth quarter.

But the Panther defense held D'Youville to just four made buckets in the fourth quarter and outscored the Spartans 21-16 to complete the victory.

Isenberg aided the Panthers' rebounding efforts with 11 of her own.

Pitt-Bradford got it done at the free-throw line, shooting 12-16.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will host Hilbert Thursday at the KOA Arena for the make-up game that was originally scheduled for last Wednesday.
