BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team picked up a convincing 78-55 win at D'Youville Monday in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.
"We fought hard, we played together and everyone stepped up," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "It was a team win and I'm so proud of this group."
Jennifer Isenberg dropped a career-high 23 points to lead all scorers.
Etreece Adams pulled down 17 rebounds, a career-best for her and a season-high for the Panthers this season.
Ali Rinfrette scored 21 points and collected 11 rebounds for a double-double. Allison Guengerich also scored a season-high 12 points.
With the victory, the Panthers improve to 3-4 in AMCC games and 5-7 overall.
The Panthers jumped out to a hot start, scoring the first six points of the game.
Rinfrette scored a layup as the buzzer sounded and Pitt-Bradford took a 12-6 lead into the second quarter as the two teams put up a low-scoring opening frame.
D'Youville then scored the first five points of the second quarter to pull within one.
Later on, the Panthers went on an 8-0 run highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Guengerich to take a nine-point lead, 29-20, at the 4:40 mark.
The Spartans closed out the half on an 8-2 run and the Panthers took a 31-28 advantage into the break.
But the Panthers came out strong in the third quarter and broke the game open.
The defense stifled D'Youville to just nine points and the offense erupted for 22 points, finishing the quarter with a 53-37 advantage.
Pitt-Bradford scored the first 14 points of the quarter, taking a 45-28 lead at the 5:16 mark.
Guengerich knocked down a three-pointer with 48 seconds remaining to cap the Panther scoring in the third quarter.
Pitt-Bradford took care of business in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Spartans 25-18 to secure the comfortable win.
Pitt-Bradford's experience stepped up in the fourth quarter as Rinfrette scored 10 of her 21 points and Isenberg scored seven of her 23 points in the closing period to help hold off D'Youville.
The 55 points D'Youville scored on the Panther defense is the second-fewest allowed by Pitt-Bradford this season. Franciscan scored just 43 on the Panthers on Dec. 9.
The Panther defense also held D'Youville to 33.3 percent from the floor, the second-lowest shot percentage against Pitt-Bradford this season (La Roche, 30.0 percent, Dec. 2).
Up next, the Panthers will welcome Medaille on Wednesday for a conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m., with the game serving as the second game of a doubleheader with the men's game before.
