Women's Basketball Completes Season Sweep of Behrend

The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team stifled Penn State Behrend Saturday, 64-50, to win its second straight game.

The Panthers suffocated the Lions in the opening half, limiting them to 26 percent shooting and just six made baskets, en route to building a 28-15 halftime lead. Pitt-Bradford's advantage would grow to 19 in the second half before the final horn sounded, as Penn State Behrend never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Pitt-Bradford shot 38 percent from the field and scored 20 points off 21 Lion turnovers. The Panthers outscored Penn State Behrend by two in the paint and netted 13 second-chance points. The Lions finished the game shooting 32 percent from the floor and were 1-14 from long-range.

Ali Rinfrette led the Panther attack with 21 points, including going 7-10 from the free throw line, and nine rebounds. Brittany Watts added 11 points and nine rebounds, and Darien Lantz totaled eight points.

With the win, the Blue and Gold moved one step closer to securing a first-round bye in the conference tournament; the Panthers (11-5) have a one-game lead over Medaille (10-6) with two games remaining.

Pitt-Bradford improves to 14-9 on the season and will travel to Penn State Altoona Wednesday for its final road game of the regular season.
