Panther Softball to Host Medaille in Home Opener

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team will open up their home slate on Wednesday as they host Medaille College in an AMCC doubleheader.

The Panthers are 5-15 so far this season but got their AMCC schedule off to a good start this weekend as they picked up an away split with Mount Aloysius. Game one saw the Panthers drop a pitcher's duel 1-0 as Kindra Wessels allowed just 1 run in the first. She also had both Panther hits in the game. Game two saw Ashley Stein take the circle. The sophomore was able to keep the Mounties off balance as she threw a complete game in the 3-1 victory. Imani Jackson had a 2-run double in the game.

Offensively, the Panthers have been led by Lexi Peters, who through 20 games has a .415 batting average. She also leads the team in RBIs with 14. Marguerite DeFranco has also had a solid season, hitting .370 in 13 games played, while Kindra Wessels has a.325 average with 7 runs scored. Wessels has also led the Panther Pitching staff. She has a 4.10 era in 42.2 innings pitched and leads the team with 24 strikeouts. Ashley Stein leads the team in wins with 3.

Medaille is 11-7 through 18 games but has not yet started their AMCC schedule as their weekend matchup with LaRoche was postponed. The Mavericks are led by Gabrielle Presutti, who has a .344 batting average with 1 home run and 11 RBIs. Camryn Adimey is hitting .326 and leads the team with 13 RBIs. Medaille's do of Kaitlyn Alguire and Alexis Alguire each have logged nearly 50 innings this season. Kaitlyn leads the team with a 3.02 ERA, while Alexis is just behind her at 3.26.

First pitch for the double-dip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Softball Field at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
