Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team swept its doubleheader with Penn State-Altoona as it celebrated Senior Day on Saturday. The Panthers took the first game 5-1 and took the second 7-2.

The seniors in the group have won 44 games thus far in their career, despite only having two and a half seasons' worth of games.

  • The Lions responded in the 2nd, scoring an unearned run off of starting pitcher Jordan Uhing. It was all that Uhing would allow for the remainder of the game. She stranded runners on second and third in the 3rd, and then retired 12 of 13 in the final four innings to close out the game.
  • The Panthers retook the lead in the 4th. Lexi Peters singled to left with one out in the inning and then was brought home when Daytona Wentzel lined her second double of the day off of the fence in left field.
  • Pitt-Bradford was able to tack on 3 more in the 5th. Carpenter drew a one-out walk and then moved to second on an error. The Panthers loaded the bases when Faith McLaughlin dropped a single into center.
  • Lathrop came through again, hitting another single up the middle to bring in two runs. The Panthers added the final run when McLaughin scampered home as pinch-runner Sadie Wood was caught stealing.
  • Uhing (4-1) picked up the win, throwing a complete game 6-hitter in the process. She allowed 1 unearned run, walked one batter, and struck out three.
  • Hannah Lathrop finished the game 2 for 3 with 3 runs batted in.

  • Penn State-Altoona once again reacted immediately in the following at-bat. The lead-off runner reached on pitcher Kerrigan Hoffmann on a single to left. She was then sacrificed to second base and scored with two outs on a throwing error.
  • Pitt-Bradford once again regained the advantage in the 3rd. Carpenter started the rally again, this time driving a single to right-center. She stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Following a strikeout and a walk, Lathrop beat out an infield single bringing in Carpenter. The ball got away from the first basemen on the play, allowing McLaughlin to move to third.
  • The Panthers added a second run in the inning as Lathrop successfully pulled off a delayed steal, allowing McLaughlin to steal home on the throw.
  • The Lions pulled a run back in the 5th, as Jayde Burge hit a home run to left to lead off the inning. Pitt-Bradford responded immediately with a home run of their own. McLaughlin drew a two-out walk to start the rally and then advanced on another Lathrop single to center. Freshman Lexi Peters came up with the big hit, driving a towering fly ball over the fence in left for her first career home run. The blast brought in 3 runs, extending the Panther lead to 6-2.
  • Pitt-Bradford added a final run with two outs in the 6th. Marguerite DeFranco ripped a pinch-hit double to right field, marking the first hit of her collegiate career. She scored a batter later when Carpenter hit a hard line drive that the Altoona left fielder could not handle.
