Panthers in the Community: Softball Kicks off Holiday Season with Harvest Dinner at Bradford Manor

Bradford, Pa. --The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team kicked off the holiday season this November when they volunteered at the Harvest Dinner at Bradford Manor.

Softball team assisted at the Bradford Manor Harvest Dinner. Bradford Manor is an assisted living and skilled nursing facility in McKean County. The Harvest Dinner is an annual event where residents and their families share a holiday themed meal together at the facility. This was the fifth straight year in which the Panthers have assisted with the event. The team assisted in setting up the dining room, serving dinners to residents, interacting with the residents.

Head Coach Tina Phillips said, "This is an event we look forward to doing every year. Something as simple as a smile or a conversation with the patients means so much to each and every one of them, especially if they didn't have family that could attend the Dinner.  Ironically, we did this a few days after World Kindness Day, hopefully teaches the players that, if anything we can always be kind to others."

Pitt-Bradford Athletic teams participate in multiple community service opportunities throughout each year. In the 2018-19 Academic Year, Pitt-Bradford student athletes completed over 1500 hours of service in the Bradford community.
