ERIE, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team completed the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament Friday at Penn State-Behrend, winning its first game of the day against Penn State-Altoona before falling in extra innings to Mount Aloysius.

No. 3 Pitt-Bradford (23-17) started the double-elimination tournament with a convincing 6-0 win over No. 6 Penn State-Altoona.

The Panthers then moved onto face the second-seeded Mount Aloysius in the afternoon. The two teams took a scoreless tie into the eighth inning until a leadoff double eventually scored on a ball that got through the Panther infield and gave the Mounties the 1-0 walk-off win.

"Two great games," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "We came out strong in the first game and when we score first, good things happen. Tough loss in the second game. We just couldn't get that big two-out hit. Jordan pitched great. I am still happy and proud of the fight we always show. We are not done yet."

Pitt-Bradford will now face No. 5 D'Youville Saturday, the first elimination game of the tournament.

With the win in game one, Pitt-Bradford's season win total moved to 23, which ties the program's most since 2014.

Jordan Uhing threw all 14 possible innings in the circle for the Panthers, surrendering zero earned runs while striking out nine total opposing batters.

In game one, Liz Dzurisin knocked RBI singles in the first and third innings, putting the Panthers ahead 2-0 after three.

Gabby Carpenter doubled the Panthers' run total with a double to left field in the fourth inning that scored Grace Dadzaa and Lindsey Hull.

Pitt-Bradford grabbed two more runs in the fifth as Madison East knocked an RBI triple to center and later scored on an RBI by Hull.

Uhing capped her complete-game shutout with a 1-2-3 seventh inning, keeping the Panthers in the winners' bracket and advancing them to take on Mount Aloysius.

Then in game two, Mount Aloysius threatened early by loading the bases with two outs, but Uhing worked a strikeout to leave all three runners stranded.

East dropped in the Panthers' first hit of the game but was eventually left stranded.

Both teams traded zeroes and the two teams went into extra innings scoreless.

After two quick outs to start the top of the eighth, the Panthers threatened.

Carpenter walked, then Kendra Colegrove knocked an infield single.

Maddy Hillery then grounded a ball that was misplayed by the third baseman, loading the bases for Dzurisin.

She came mere feet away from giving the Panthers a 4-0 lead, but the ball landed just foul. She later put a strong swing on one but the ball was caught by the right fielder and ended the Panthers' threat.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Mounties worked a leadoff double.

A ball later got through the Panther infield and the runner on second scored to complete the victory.

Pitt-Bradford and D'Youville will take the field Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
