BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team celebrated Senior Day during its home finale Sunday as La Roche came to town for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader under the lights at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

Pitt-Bradford (21-15, 9-7 AMCC) and La Roche split both sides, the Panthers taking game one 5-1 before the Redhawks took the nightcap 7-6.

Earlier in the day, Pitt-Bradford held its commencement and shortly after, the softball program honored its graduates: Lindsey Hull, Madison East, Grace Dadzaa, Liz Dzurisin and Maddy Hillery for Senior Day.

"First off, congratulations and thank you to our five Panthers who graduated today," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "We will miss their talents, but more importantly, miss them as teammates.

"Was a tough split. Jordan was dominant in the first game and we played well behind her and at the plate. East had the big hit in the second game and everything changed as we gave up the walks and home runs and didn't push enough across. We are getting the rust off from our time off and just working on getting the top four in the lineup going. We'll be looking to get that going tomorrow."

In game one, Hull, East and Gabby Carpenter led the way with a pair of hits apiece to back a complete-game effort from Jordan Uhing in the circle.

Carpenter scored on a passed ball in the first then put the Panthers ahead 3-0 with a two-run single in the second.

An RBI single from Hannah Lathrop in the third later put the Panthers up 4-0.

A bases-loaded single plated one for La Roche in the sixth but the Panthers would get the run back in the bottom half as Dadzaa scored on an error, putting Pitt-Bradford ahead by its eventual final score of 5-1.

Uhing improved to 13-4 with the decision in game one. She struck out three and scattered five hits while surrendering one earned run.

Then in game two, both teams struggled for offense early until La Roche broke through with two runs in the third.

Pitt-Bradford cut the lead in half as East scored on a Hannah Lathrop single capped by a throwing error on the relay.

Then in the fifth, Dzurisin tied it as she scored Betty Fratercangelo with a single to left.

With the bases still loaded, East then stepped in and ripped a bases-clearing triple to right.

She scored herself on the play as the second baseman bobbled the relay, putting Pitt-Bradford ahead 6-2.

But La Roche responded with a four-run sixth to tie the ballgame, highlighted by a two-run homer.

Then in the top of the seventh, a two-out, bases-loaded single brought home the go-ahead run for La Roche.

Pitt-Bradford threatened in the bottom half.

Dadzaa knocked a two-out single, then moved up on a fielding error by the La Roche shortstop, which put the winning run at first.

But both runners would be left stranded as a La Roche strikeout secured the Redhawks win.

Melanie Davis started in the circle for the Panthers, then was relieved by Kerrigan Hoffmann in the sixth.

Uhing was the pitcher of record, as she came on to finish the sixth and throw the seventh in game two.

Offensively, East led the way with a pair of hits and two runs scored.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will head to Pitt-Greensburg Monday for its final regular season action.
