Uhing, Hillery Pick Up AMCC Weekly Honors

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team swept the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference weekly awards for the second time this season, as sophomore Jordan Uhing was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week and senior Maddy Hillery was named the AMCC Player of the Week for their performances during the period of April 1-7.

Both standout weeks helped power the Panthers to a 5-1 week.

Hillery had a monster week at the plate, going 11-for-20 with five doubles, nine runs scored and 12 RBIs.

"Maddy had a huge week and I'm excited for her. She earned it," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "She saw the ball really well and I can only think of two or three at-bats all week where she didn't put a good bat on the ball."

The West Seneca, N.Y., native reached base at a .625 percentage, hit .550 (.615 in AMCC action) and slugged .800.

Half of Hillery's RBIs came during game two at Alfred State. Her six RBIs are the program's most since the same amount was recorded in 2010 and is the third six-RBI game in program history.

She also recorded a .905 fielding percentage in the infield for the Panthers.

This season, Hillery has the fifth-best batting average in the AMCC at .427 and her 22 RBIs are tied for fourth most.

For Uhing, this marks the second time this season she has earned the distinction of AMCC Pitcher of the Week, the first coming on March 18.

"Jordan was dominant this week against Hilbert, Franciscan and Alfred State," Phillips said. "Three big conference wins for us."

Uhing earned wins in all four of her appearances this week, defeating Hilbert, Alfred State and Franciscan with complete-game wins -- Hilbert and Alfred State wins coming as complete-game shutouts.

In game two against Hilbert, she came on in relief in the sixth inning with the tying run at third base. She stranded the runner at third, her team took the lead in the seventh, and she shut Hilbert down in the bottom half to secure the victory and the sweep.

At Alfred State, she tossed all seven innings allowing just one hit and striking out 10 Pioneers, the program's first double-digit strikeout game since 2014.

In total, she tossed 20.1 innings allowing just four earned runs and striking out 18. Her ERA for the week was 1.38.

On the season, Uhing is tied for the AMCC lead with nine wins and she ranks fourth in the conference with 54 strikeouts.

Pitt-Bradford enters the week with a 15-11 overall record and a 3-3 mark in AMCC action. The Panthers are back in action Wednesday hosting Medaille at the Kessel Athletics Complex.
