BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team is set to return home Saturday to host Franciscan for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader at the Kessel Athletics Complex.
Pitt-Bradford (14-10, 2-2 AMCC) has won four straight, sweeping Hilbert Tuesday before taking both non-conference games at Alfred State Thursday.
In the first game at Alfred State, Jordan Uhing tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout. She struck out 10 Pioneers, the most since Sydney Mosby's four double-digit strikeout games in 2014. It is the first 10-strikeout game since Sarah Angeletti hit the decade mark on April 10, 2010.
For the second-straight game, Melissa Nye came through with the game-winning hit, a single to center that scored Maeghan Wynn and put the Panthers ahead 1-0 in the seventh.
Then in the second game, Maddy Hillery continued her hot hitting going 3-for-4 with six RBIs, two doubles and a run scored. Hillery's outburst marks the third six-RBI game in program history and the first since Lauryn Weaver's such performance on April 21, 2010.
Uhing is one of the top arms in the AMCC, tying for first in the conference with eight wins, striking out the second-most batters with 51 and owning the third-best ERA at 2.60.
Hillery has elevated her RBI total to 19, which is the third-most in the conference.
Her .418 batting average is the sixth best in the conference while Liz Dzurisin's .410 batting average is eighth best.
Grace Dadzaa's 11 stolen bases are the third most in the AMCC.
On the season, Franciscan owns an 11-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in AMCC action. The Barons were swept by first-place Mount Aloysius in their opening series and most recently split with Pitt-Greensburg.
Franciscan is one of the top base stealing teams in the nation as the Barons are fourth in the country with 3.67 steals per game. The top-two base stealers in the AMCC are Barons, as Allyson Weiss ranks eighth in the country with 1.11 steals per game (20 total) and Rachel Cooper is 32nd in the nation with 0.72 swiped bags per game (13 total).
In the circle, Sarah Keating owns the second-highest win total with six so far this season and the fourth-best ERA at 2.61.
Saturday's action is set for a 1 p.m. start with game two coming shortly after around 3 p.m.
