FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team continued its Florida trip with a pair of games Wednesday, falling in the first but coming out on top in the second.

The Panthers (4-4) fell to the University of Saint Joseph 4-3 in the day's first action and then grabbed a comeback win against RIT 6-2 in game two.

"Good split today," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "Just couldn't put hits together in the first game. Responded well against a decent RIT team. Jordan pitched great and Kendra, Liz and Soph gave us some great at-bats."

In game two, the Panthers used a six-run fifth inning to back a strong performance from Jordan Uhing in the circle.

The sophomore tossed all seven innings while striking out four along the way.

Kendra Colegrove led the way with three hits in game two while Liz Dzurisin dropped in two.

Down 2-0 heading into the fifth, Colegrove got things started with a leadoff double, then Betty Fratercangelo singled.

Both runners eventually came into score on wild pitches to tie the game.

Later with the bases loaded, Dzurisin bounced a ball toward the RIT shortstop, who misplayed it and allowed Mackenzie Bonyak and Gabby Carpenter to score and give the Panthers the lead.

A two-run single from Sophia Fratercangelo capped the inning and served as the lone Panther RBIs.

Pitt-Bradford left a pair of Tiger runs stranded in the fifth, then sent RIT down quietly in the final two frames to secure the win.

Both teams dropped in 10 total hits apiece.

In game one, Saint Joseph jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first and added another in the second.

Pitt-Bradford got two back in the top of the third as Melanie Davis came into score as Grace Dadzaa slid into second on a first-and-third double steal play.

Betty Fratercangelo then sent Dadzaa home on a single to center.

An RBI single for the Blue Jays in the fifth put USJ ahead 4-2, but the Panthers would threat once again.

Bonyak singled with one down in the sixth and eventually scored on a ball put in play by Lindsey Hull that also moved the tying run to third.

But the Panthers would be unable to bring the run into score and USJ would later hold onto win.

Davis threw all six innings in the circle for the Panthers, surrendering three earned runs and walking none.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next on Thursday with a pair of morning contests against Lesley at 9 a.m. and Curry at 11 a.m. at North Collier Park in Naples, Fla.
