Panthers Softball Set For 10 Games In Fort Myers Next Week

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team will resume its 2019 season in the Gene Cusic Classic with 10 non-conference games in Fort Myers, Fla., next week.

The Panthers will have five doubleheader game days, taking on a different opponent each game.

Starting on March 12, the Panthers will play Blackburn and SUNY Canton, then March 13 they'll play St. Joseph (Conn.) and RIT.

March 14, Pitt-Bradford will take on Lesley and Curry, then following an off day, will clash with North Central (Ill.) and SUNY Brockport March 16.

The annual Florida trip will end on March 17 with games against Knox and Crown (Minn.).

Pitt-Bradford is coming off its season-opening action in the Mountain Mash hosted in Salem, Va., last weekend.

The Panthers went 1-3 against the stiff competition, finding a 3-2 win against Southern Virginia and hanging with the two-time defending champion and No. 1 team in the country Virginia Wesleyan, 6-2.

A pair of stand-out performances highlighted the Panthers' season-opening action.

Kerrigan Hoffmann earned the complete-game win in the circle against Southern Virginia and delt 2.2 innings of scoreless relief against No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan to secure the AMCC Pitcher of the Week nod.

Liz Dzurisin knocked the game-winning hit as a pinch hitter against Southern Virginia and went 5-for-9 for a .556 batting average with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in the four games as a whole to earn the AMCC's Player of the Week award.
