Hoffmann, Dzurisin Earn AMCC Weekly Honors

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Sophomore pitcher Kerrigan Hoffmann and senior infielder Liz Dzurisin swept the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Weekly awards for their performances during the period of Feb. 25 - March 3, conference officials announced Monday.

The AMCC Pitcher of the Week Hoffmann got off to a strong start in the circle in 2019, dealing a complete-game victory in her first outing of the season and tossing a clean two innings of relief against the two-time defending national champion and No. 1 team in the country Virginia Wesleyan.

"Kerrigan got off to a great start," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "She only got better as the game went on against Southern Virginia. And she had a great performance to shut down the two-time defending national champs Virginia Wesleyan."

In her victory against Southern Virginia, she struck out five and surrendered two runs on six hits while walking just two.

And against Virginia Wesleyan, she tossed 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits and gave up no runs, keeping the Panthers in the game.

The conference Player of the Week Dzurisin delivered the game-winning hit against Southern Virginia, a pinch-hit RBI single to put the Panthers up 3-2 and secure their first win of the season.

"Liz also had a strong weekend," Phillips said. "She was clutch with the game-winning RBI in our win. Saw the ball real well and even got robbed a few times. Happy for the both of them."

She went 5-for-9 for a .556 batting average with a double, two RBIs and a run scored on the week.

Both performances came in the Panthers' four-game, season-opening series in Salem, Va., over the weekend.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will play 10 games in Fort Myers, Fla., from March 12-17.
