ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Junior Maddy Hillery was named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference First Team while sophomores Jenna Fellows and Madison East were named to the All-AMCC Third Team, conference officials announced Tuesday.
A native of West Seneca, N.Y., Hillery earned First Team All-AMCC status as one of the hottest hitters in the conference. Her .432 batting average in conference play ranked eighth in the AMCC while her conference on-base percentage of .444 ranked 12th in the AMCC.
"Maddy's bat carried us over the last part of the season in conference play," Head Coach Tina Phillips said. "She was moved into the four hole for the last part of the season and got hot to help us make our late-season push. I'm happy to see her earn this honor, as she works hard and takes a lot of pride in her play."
The second baseman also knocked 19 hits while scoring seven runs and driving in nine with a pair of doubles in the team's 16 conference games. Defensively, she was part of nine double plays, helping the Panthers to the nation's ninth-best double plays per game average of 0.50.
Hillery caught fire down the stretch in conference play, recording at least two hits in four-straight games from April 22-28, highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored to help power the Panthers to a win at La Roche (April 28).
She becomes the fourth Panther since 2014 to be named to the All-AMCC First Team. The program has now had two-straight seasons with a player named to the All-AMCC First Team, as Grace Dadzaa garnered the honor in 2017.
A native of Falconer, N.Y., Fellows held down the shortstop position, making just four errors in 67 total chances for a .940 fielding percentage in conference play. Teamed up with Hillery up the middle, she was part of five double plays.
"Madison was our offensive leader all season, both in power numbers and on the basepaths," Phillips said. "She had a great season defensively and covers a lot of ground in centerfield, which saves us at times."
