Pitt-Bradford Softball To Host Alfred State For Home Opener Monday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team will play its first home contests Monday as Alfred State comes to the Kessel Athletics Complex for a non-conference doubleheader.

Entering the day, Head Coach Tina Phillips is one win away from reaching 300 career wins as a head softball coach.

Pitt-Bradford holds a 6-8 overall record, most recently playing four games against a pair of tough opponents in Virginia.

The Panthers claimed all six of their wins during their trip to Florida earlier this month, going 6-4 in their 10 season-opening games.

Madison East and Grace Dadzaa are the lone Panthers to have started all 14 games so far this season. East is hitting .341 while Dadzaa is just a point behind at .340. Dadzaa leads the team with nine runs scored while East has scored eight.

Samantha Hribal boasts the top batting average on the team at .440. The team's top run producer has been Betty Fratercangelo with five RBIs.

The team's pitching staff has been by-committee, as all five pitchers have appeared in three or more games. Jordan Uhing has the top ERA at 1.33 in five appearances and three starts totaling 21 innings pitched. Kerrigan Hoffmann leads the team in total innings pitched at 22.1 while Liz Dzurisin has tossed 22.

Uhing, Hoffmann and Morgan Bellush have been credited with two wins apiece.

Alfred State comes to town still in search of its first victory of the season at 0-11. Zoe Derr is the team's leading hitter with a .321 batting average and nine hits. Ashley Peterson leads the team with four RBIs. In the circle, Betsy Butlak and Jordan Leonard have taken on all 51 total innings. Butlak leads the staff with 31 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts.

Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
