BRADFORD, Pa. - Pitt-Bradford softball was roughed up by No. 5 St. John Fisher Sunday in the team's home opener. The Panthers lost 10-1 and 17-3.

The Cardinals ambushed the Panthers for five runs in the first inning of game one and never looked back, winning by mercy-rule in five innings. Starter Liz Dzurisin was charged for seven runs on nine hits in four-plus innings. St. John Fisher totaled six extra-base hits, including four triples.

Madison East had a RBI triple in the fourth inning for Pitt-Bradford, one of only three hits the Panthers managed. It's just the second earned run St. John Fisher starter Lindsey Thayer has allowed in 46.1 innings pitched this season.

Pitt-Bradford led 2-1 after the first inning in game two, but the Cardinals responded with four runs in the second to go ahead for good. St. John Fisher stretched the lead to 9-3 with three more runs in the sixth, and an eight-run seventh made the score even more lopsided.

East accounted for half of the Panthers' six hits. She had a RBI single in the first and connected for her first career home run in the fourth, a towering shot to left field. Nicole Nolte went 1-2 with a run-scoring base hit.

Starter Morgan Bellush dropped to 0-3 on the season, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 5-11 on the season and will travel to Elmira Tuesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
