The Pitt-Bradford softball team wrapped up play at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Naples, Florida, Sunday with shutout losses to Nichols (3-0) and Salem State (9-0).

The Panthers managed just five hits off Nichols' starter Meghan Sears and failed to produce with runners in scoring position.

Pitt-Bradford left the bases loaded in the fourth, its best opportunity to crack the scoreboard, and did not advance a runner beyond second base over the final three innings.

The Bison jumped ahead in the third, scoring the game's first run on a two-out error. A wild pitch in the fifth allowed another runner to cross the plate, and Nichols' Kendall Meehan followed with a RBI single in the next at bat to cap the scoring.

Starter Morgan Bellush was charged for all three runs, two earned, in 4.1 innings of work. She gave up five hits, walked a season-high three batters and struck out two.

Salem St. run-ruled the Panthers in five innings in their Florida finale. The Vikings knocked around starter Liz Dzurisin for eight runs on nine hits, chasing her after 3.1 innings. Offensively, Pitt-Bradford mustered only five hits once again, including two apiece by Nicole Nolte and Sam Hribal.

The Panthers drop to 4-8 on the season and resume play next Saturday with a doubleheader at St. John Fisher.
