Panthers Swept on Senior Day

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team (8-25, 2-13) ran into a high-powered Mount Aloysius (17-15, 8-3) offense, falling in both games of a doubleheader with the Mounties on Saturday afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

The Panthers honored seniors Meagan Hillard, Amber Fox, and Emily Fair as part of their annual Senior Appreciation Day.

"I wish we could have sent the seniors out with a bang," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Tina Phillips. "All three of them have been tremendous assets to our program over the past four years and I will miss them."

Pitt-Bradford dropped the opener 11-1, before falling 9-1 in the finale.

Fox led the Panthers at the plate with one hit while driving in the Panther's lone run in the opener. Nicole Nolte, Emily Fair, Jenna Dean, and Cassidy Lewis picked up one hit each in the loss. Lewis took the loss in the circle, striking out four over seven innings.

Taylor Swatsworth had a huge day for the Mounties, going 4-5 with a home run and five RBI while Morgan Rackish was dominant in the circle, allowing just one run on five hits in a complete game effort.

The Mounties scored in every inning but one in the opener, leading to the 11-1 victory.

Fox led the Panthers in game two as well, going 1-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Liz Dzurisin and Nolte added one hit as well while Fair drove in the Panther's only run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Taylor Collins took the loss in the circle, striking out one in six innings of work.

The Mounties again used a high-powered offense to earn the victory, but their five-run third really put the game out of reach.

The Panthers close out AMCC play Saturday afternoon at Franciscan at two.
