The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team dropped their first two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games to the Medaille Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

The Mavericks won game one 12-5 and then picked up a 12-2 victory in game two.

"We just didn't have it today," said Pitt-Bradford head coach Tina Phillips. "We have to be better. That's the bottom line. We didn't get the outs when we needed them."

Maddy Hillery, Taylor Collins, Meagan Hillard and Nicole Nolte all had one hit and one RBI each while Grace Dadzaa, Liz Dzurisin, and Amber Fox had one hit each in the game one loss. Cassidy Lewis took the loss in the circle while Taylor Collins allowed one run in two innings of relief in the opener. 

Sharon Trigilio, Halle Jurs and Morgan Ziemba had multi-RBI game to lead the Maverick's offense in the opener. 

Medaille jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings in game one, but the Panthers didn't give in. 

Pitt-Bradford scored three runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth to bring the Mavericks lead to 9-3. Hillery started the rally with a double to right-center, allowing Dadzaa to score all the way from first after drawing a leadoff walk. Hillery scored later in the inning when the Panthers executed a double steal with runners on the corners. Collins capped the Panther's three-run fourth with an RBI single to center. 

Medaille added another on a sacrifice fly in the fifth and then picked up two more in the sixth to make it an 11-3 ballgame. 

Pitt-Bradford kept the game alive in the sixth when Hillard drew a bases loaded walk and Nolte roped an RBI single to center, bringing the Panthers within 11-5. 

The Mavericks continued to swing a hot bat in the second game, scoring 13 runs on 12 hits to capture a 12-2 victory in five innings. Eight of the nine hitters in the Maverick's lineup drove in at least one run while Lauren Kocher and Megan Owens led the offense with two RBI each. Cortney Carroccia won both games in the circle for Medaille. 

Hillery drove in the only two runs for the Panthers in game two with a bunt in the third and a rocket single down the left field line in the fifth. 

Medaille did the majority of their damage with a 10-run top of the third and never looked back.

The Panthers return to action Saturday afternoon at Penn State Altoona for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
