Panthers Compete At Penn State-Altoona, Men's Team Wins 6-3

ALTOONA, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford tennis teams traveled to Penn State-Altoona for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches Saturday.

The Panthers men's team picked up its first win of the season, 6-3, while the women's team fell, 5-1.

In the men's match, the Panthers got off to a stellar start sweeping doubles.

The No. 1 team of  Jacob Volz and Matt Dennis picked up an 8-3 win in the top spot, while the No. 2 tandem on Jeffrey Kocjancic and David Ta won 9-7.

The No. 3 doubles point went to the Panthers by way of a forfeit.

Volz continued his winning ways into singles, picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 2 spot.

Kocjancic grabbed the second singles win for Pitt-Bradford, a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 4 spot.

The No. 3 singles point went to the Panthers due to a forfeit as well.

In the women's match, the lone Panthers' point came in the No. 3 doubles victory featuring the team of Aaliyah Smith and Abbie Buerkle, 8-3.

The No. 2 doubles team of Elanie Roberts and Divya Guwalani worked a tight match by narrowly fell 8-5.

Due to inclement weather, the women's match was played to decision.

Up next, the Panthers women's team will wrap up their 2018 season and the men's team will conclude the fall portion of its 2018-19 campaign as Pitt-Greensburg comes to the Kessel Athletic Complex Friday.
