Panthers Grab Wins In Top Spots But Fall To Penn State-Altoona In AMCC Opener

OLEAN, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's tennis team fell 7-2 to Penn State-Altoona in the team's first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match of the season Saturday.

"Our No. 1 doubles were setting up points to get better court positioning to get those moments to attack the net and end the point," Head Coach Susan Schenfield said. "Tyler continues to play with that ease of power that is nice to watch and he has more variety of shots than most players. As a team, we will proceed with balance and keep playing our game."

Pitt-Bradford got its two wins out of its top positions, as Tyler Dugan and Jacob Volz picked up an 8-4 victory in doubles and Dugan earned a 6-4, 6-4 win singles.

The Panthers No. 2 doubles team of Drew Patla and David Ta lost 8-0, while the No. 3 team of Matt Dennis and Jeffrey Kocjancic lost by way of an 8-2 score.

Volz gave his No. 2 singles opponent a tight second set but could not force a third and fell, 6-0, 7-5.

Kocjancic also gave his No. 6 opponent good competition but lost, 6-3, 6-2.

Up next, the Panthers will continue conference play and head to Penn State-Behrend for a match Sunday.
