Conan Young Makes All-Conference Team Twice

Bradford, Pa. -- The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released their swimming All-Conference performers on Wednesday and Conan Young of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team picked up two spots on the honors list.

All-conference honorees were decided at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championship meet, held between February 14th and 17th. To earn all-conference honors, swimmers had to be the first or second finisher from an AMCC team in each individual race.

For the second straight year, Conan Young picked up a pair of all-conference honors at the meet. He repeated as conference champion in the 1650-yard freestyle and was the 2nd-best AMCC finisher in the 400-yard individual medley. A year after setting a meet record in the mile, Young finished second in the long-distance race, coming in second .53 seconds behind the winner from Hartwick of the Empire 8. He finished the race in 16:04.13 to pick up the spot on the first team.

A day earlier, he picked up a 2nd team spot in the 400-yard individual medley. He was 3rd overall in the race, but 2nd among AMCC swimmers. His time was 4:11.30. Young was less than a second out of 2nd place but finished nearly 10 seconds behind the winner.

The All-Conference honors are the 3rd and 4th of Young's career. Last season he was 1st team in the 1650 and 2nd team in the 500-yard freestyle.
