Conan Young Sets Program Mark in 1000 as Panthers Fall to Saxons

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team returned to competition in the pool on Friday evening as they traveled to Alfred University for a dual match with the Saxons. The Panthers ultimately fell to the hosts 160-57.

The Panthers were only able to come away with one event victory on the night, as Conan Young dominated the 1,000-yard freestyle. He swam the event in 10:10.50 defeating his nearest opponent by more than two minutes. He also broke his own program record in the event by 7 seconds. Young also took 3rd place in the 100-yard butterfly and swam the Panthers' fastest leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which they finished in 2nd.

Sprinter Jason Tosh had a pair of second-place finishes in the meet. Tosh took second in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. He finished the 50 in 23.07 seconds, less than a second off the winner, and the 100 in 55.18 seconds. Tosh also posted a 23.75-second split as the anchor leg in the freestyle relay.

Duncan Young also took second place in two events. He began the meet with the 200-yard freestyle, where his time of 1:54.18 was 4 seconds behind the winner. He followed that up with a strong performance in the 500-yard freestyle. He took second again with a time of 5:16.90.

The Panthers' dual record is now 1-1. They will return to action on Saturday, November 4th, when they travel to Penn State-Behrend for a dual meet with the Lions.
