Panthers Swim Set To Compete In Three-Day Wooster Invite Thursday-Saturday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swim teams will head to Wooster for their annual mid-season meet Thursday.

The Wooster Invitational will be a three-day event, running from Thursday through Saturday.

Pitt-Bradford will face strong competition at the meet. The 11 other teams competing are CWRU, Chatham, Edinboro, Gannon, Hiram, Lock Haven, Mount Union, Malone, Ohio Northern, Westminster and the host Wooster.

All of the swimming events will take place at Ellen Shapiro Natatorium, which is located at Wooster High School. Diving takes place at Timken Natatorium located on Wooster's campus.

Action starts with prelims Thursday at 11 a.m., followed by finals at 7 p.m. Then Friday, competition resumes with prelims at 10 a.m., diving at 2 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m. The event wraps up Saturday with the final session of prelims at 10 a.m., diving at 2 p.m. and finals at 5 p.m.

Pitt-Bradford has been idle from competition for a week, most recently hosting Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, Nov. 17. 

Devyn Condon grabbed a pair of victories for the Panthers, winning the men's 200-freestyle with a time of 2:01.29 and the men's 200-butterfly in 2:13.30.

Kayla Broad took first in three events, including the women's 100-backstroke (1:07.84), 100-freestyle (59.26) and 500-freestyle (6:35.51).

In the men's 100-freestyle, Noah Frederick grabbed first with a time of 2:23.51, three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Alexia Garcia took first in a pair of events, the women's 100-breaststroke (1:16.94) and 200-breaststroke (2:58.55).
