Caleb Hansen Named AMCC Swimmer of the Week

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Freshman Caleb Hansen of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swim team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimmer of the Week for his performance during the period of Oct. 22-28, conference officials announced Monday.

"This is a great way for Caleb's career to get started in his first dual meet," Head Coach Doug Alban said. "Jumping into three individual events in the short-form meet is a tall task, especially in the hotly contested freestyle events. His performance in the 200 was truly magical."

The Vandergrift, Pa., native pulled off the impressive feat of winning three individual events in his first collegiate meet Saturday, leading the team to a win at Penn State-Altoona.

Hansen won the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:53.82, then won the 100-freestyle with a time of 52.29, over six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

The third win of the day for Hansen came in the 500-freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:28.34 and nearly 13 seconds ahead of his competition.

He had to battle back from being down early to grab the win in the 200-freestyle and pulled off a thrilling victory.

Pitt-Bradford will open its 2018-19 home schedule hosting Alfred on Friday at 5 p.m.
